TIPS FROM THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT:


Hey ISA Broker!

The busy Summer Travel Season is drawing to a close, and it’s time to shift our focus to a new market for International Sales. Back to School is the perfect time to target students and universities. As the interest in international studies continues to increase, I want to remind all of our agents that Insurance Services of America can help you quote any type of student group program, whether it be a student association on campus, a church, embassy, or a volunteer organization, and help you find the plan that is right for their specific needs.

Here are some other groups that frequently purchase International travel medical products and are ideal markets to consider targeting:

Missionaries - More U.S. missionaries travel abroad every year. Until recently, many churches and missionary organizations were self-funding their international missionary health care programs. Contact the local churches in your area for individual or group missionary opportunities. Take a look at our Day Tripper plan for affordable, comprehensive coverage for travel groups big and small.


The Senior Market - U.S. citizens over the age of 65 are not covered under Medicare when they leave the United States. Medicare provides limited coverage in Mexico and Canada. Our new Liaison Silver is perfect for this growing market.

Older foreign nationals often visit relatives in the United States. They usually plan a 3 or 4 month trip that includes time with relatives and sightseeing. Local ethnic associations and newspapers, as well as universities, are just a few examples of where to access this market. Our Inbound Immigrant plan is a great fit to provide coverage for these individuals.

Ethnic Communities - A local ethnic community is a tremendous market for the short-term medical programs. Members of these communities have relatives and friends from their home country visit on a regular basis. Usually, there is a local newsletter or newspaper oriented toward that ethnic group. A listing of all the ethnic periodicals published in the United States is available through the Internet. Atlas products have a lot of different options for this group of travelers.

Embassies - Hundreds of embassies around the country are a fantastic place to find traveling international citizens. For example, an embassy might send 5 physicians and their families to the U.S. for a year to study western medicine, so they often purchase a temporary program. Travel Groups with International Exposure - The world is becoming smaller. With borders falling throughout the world and international travel becoming more affordable and appealing, we’ve seen an influx of foreign national tour groups visiting the U.S. Additionally, there are more international tour packages being offered to U.S. citizens. The former Soviet Union and South America are very active markets. Contact your local travel agent for these opportunities. Travel Agencies - International travelers on short term trips are usually more concerned with purchasing Trip Cancellation and Baggage Protection rather than a travel medical program.
